Performance software upgrade
FAQ
The performance software upgrade is currently only available for Polestar 2 Long range Dual Motor. Other models may become eligible in the future.
The performance software upgrade will soon be available to purchase directly through our Polestar service point network. Contact your closest Polestar service point to arrange this upgrade for your Polestar.
You will need to take your Polestar to your local Polestar service point for them to install the upgrade on site at their workshop.
Purchasing the performance software upgrade will be available in the coming months. Installation timeframes will depend on the availability of each individual Polestar service partner. They will be able to confirm available times with you once the upgrade is available to purchase.
Any modifications to a car's specification may impact insurance premiums. It's the responsibility of the vehicle owner to notify their insurance provider about these changes promptly. Failing to report upgrades could lead to complications, including the potential denial of claims.
The purchase of the performance upgrade is final, binding, and non-refundable. Customers should be aware that the Polestar performance software is classified as digital content, which will be delivered automatically upon completion of the purchase. As such, there are no statutory rights to withdraw from this transaction.
When you purchase the performance software upgrade, you will receive specialised software for your Polestar, engineered to optimise engine functionality, ensuring peak performance during every drive. Your Polestar will also have the two door stickers replaced, along with the Polestar Engineered 'rank mark' installed on the front grille.
The sticker kit, including door stickers and the Polestar Engineered 'rank mark' for prominent display on the front grille, will be installed on your Polestar by our service technicians when you take your car to have the upgrade installed on site at one of our service partner locations.
All Polestar models eligible for the performance software update (currently only Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor) can have the upgrade installed through one of our Polestar service partners.
As the performance software upgrade is not part of the original lease offer, you will need written approval from the leasing company before being able to purchase the software.
If you own a Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor with Performance pack, Launch control is part of the latest update available for your car. By installing this update, the Launch control feature will automatically be added at no extra charge.
Once installed, the Launch control feature can be activated by depressing the accelerator and the brake pedal simultaneously. Upon doing so, you will notice that your Polestar 2 “squats” because the software preloads a higher starting torque, slightly pulling the car down. To drive off, all you need to do is release the brake pedal and launch control will instantly provide maximum power.
- Yes there is. We’ve developed a dedicated in-car Performance app that can be accessed from the center display. It provides acceleration figures as well as the number of G’s that the car pulls. The Performance app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play store.
