Who is eligible to purchase the performance software upgrade? Are there any limitations?

The performance software upgrade is only available for dual-motor cars that do not have performance software from the factory. The aftermarket offer is available to cash and financed purchases as well as fleet and lease customers in appointed markets.

How does this upgrade affect my insurance?

Accepted Answer

The change to the specification of your car may affect your insurance premiums. You are responsible for informing your insurance provider of the upgrade, and the associated potential change in cost. Failure to do so may result in your insurance company refusing a claim.

How is the upgrade installed?

Accepted Answer

The upgrade is sent to your car as an Over-the-Air (OTA) update and can be installed at your convenience once downloaded.

Why can the software purchase not be returned?

Accepted Answer

Since the Polestar Performance Software upgrade constitutes digital content that will be delivered automatically following the purchase, the customer is allowed a 3-day cancellation window from payment.

How do I change and apply the stickers?

Accepted Answer

The sticker kit, which will be sent to your delivery address, includes instructions for removing your car's existing door stickers and mounting the new ones. Just scan the QR code to watch a video that runs through the process step by step, or read more in the manual.

What do I get when I buy the software?

Accepted Answer

You will receive the software, two replacement door stickers, a Polestar Engineered 'rank mark' to apply to your front grille, and if applicable an emissions sticker. In USA and Canada, MY21 vehicles will require an underhood emission sticker. Instructions will come with the sticker.

I have purchased the upgrade in the web shop, how long will it take before I get prompted to install it in the car?

The software will reach you within 1–2 weeks after purchasing.

If I am a lease customer, is it possible to add the cost of the performance software to my monthly cost?

Accepted Answer

No, the cost of the software must be paid in full at the time of purchase.

Can I buy and install the performance software upgrade as a lease customer?

Accepted Answer

As the performance software upgrade is not part of the original lease offer, you will need approval from the leasing company before purchasing the software.

I am about to purchase or have recently purchased a Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor. Can I add the performance software upgrade to my order?

Accepted Answer

The performance software upgrade is available as part of the Performance pack, which can be added to your order before purchasing the car. If you only want to have the software or if you've already placed an order, the upgrade will be available in the Polestar extras web shop after handover.

I have already downloaded and installed the performance software upgrade. How can I add the launch control feature?

Launch control is part of the latest Over-the-Air update for your Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor. By downloading and installing this update, the launch control feature will automatically be added at no extra charge.

Question 12

I don't see a reference to launch control in the car's display menu. How do I activate it?

Accepted Answer

Once installed, the launch control feature can be activated by depressing the accelerator and the brake pedal simultaneously. Upon doing so, you will notice that your Polestar 2 “squats” because the software preloads a higher starting torque, slightly pulling the car down. To drive off, all you need to do is release the brake pedal and launch control will instantly provide maximum power.

Is there a way to see how the performance software upgrade improves the acceleration time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is. We've developed a dedicated in-car Performance app that can be accessed from the centre display. It provides acceleration figures as well as the number of Gs that the car pulls. The Performance app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store.
