Blue skies and a Sky blue electric roadster at Pebble Beach

Monterey Car Week is where car enthusiasts come together to experience vintage rarities and cutting-edge concepts alike. So, if challenged to name a better place to get people excited about the “Sky” blue, open-top redefinition of electric performance than sunny California, we’d struggle.

Packed with everything from car shows, races, and auctions to lectures and exhibitions, this year’s Monterey Car Week boasted nearly 30 exclusive events. The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and the Concept Car Lawn at Pebble Beach were among the main attractions. For the week’s grand finale, the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath was invited as an honorary judge to evaluate some of the world’s most exclusive cars based on style and elegance.Pebble Beach held particular excitement for us, as we had a special announcement to make. We brought our electric roadster concept back to the Golden State, albeit this time to a Pebble Beach podium, to tell the world that it’ll be going into production as the Polestar 6. Since its reveal in Los Angeles in March, the electric roadster concepthas won the hearts and minds of many. The reception it received made it clear that drivers are thrilled about a new form of open-top electric performance. With the overwhelmingly positive response, we decided to put it into production. The announcement came mid-way through Monterey Car Week. As did the release of 500 building slots for an exclusive launch version of the production car called “Polestar 6 LA Concept edition,” expected to be launched in 2026.

On the greens of the Pebble Beach Golf Course, EV enthusiasts and petrolheads alike crowded the Polestar stand displaying the electric roadster concept in “Sky” blue and Snow. The original “Sky” blue version was also shown at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.

While back on American soil, the electric roadster concept made a big splash, with the excitement of its announced production making waves beyond the Central Coast. Below is a sampling of the response from the world’s press.

“This may be today’s best-looking electric roadster.” –Bloomberg“When it comes to evocative automotive concept designs, it’s not often those dreams become reality without serious compromises to the original vision. Swedish electric performance auto manufacturer Polestar is setting out to be the exception.” –Design Milk“Polestar has shown that they can make the most exciting plans become reality.” –Teknikens Värld (article in Swedish)“Here’s proof that fun cars can survive the transition to electric.” –Car Magazine UK“Because the trained car designer Thomas Ingenlath combines the rare gift of understanding something about entrepreneurial leadership and beautiful design, very attractive models are created under his leadership.” –Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (article in German)“I’m looking forward to learning more about this one; it looks like a smile-inducing drive.” –Electrek

Standing out at Pebble Beach is no easy task. But the electric roadster concept, with its aerospace-inspired design and striking blue coat, still managed to capture the imagination of onlookers. With all that excitement it became clear, once again, that the electric performance convertible and the Golden State make for a good combo.
