Speeding up the shift to electric mobility with StoreDot

Together, we’re on a journey toward more electric mobility. And with our new partner StoreDot, the extreme fast charging battery innovators, the journey could get faster. Especially when charging.

Polestar investeert in StoreDot, pionier op het vlak van extreem snel laden.
If our current pilot projects with StoreDot are successful, we could see these solutions being implemented in Polestar cars by 2026.

Teaming up with extreme fast charging battery technology pioneers StoreDot marks our company’s first financial investment into helping an innovative industry partner drive technological advancements in the field of electric mobility.

The Israel-based battery innovator is spearheading the development of silicon-dominant extreme fast charging batteries for electric vehicles, aiming to produce batteries which can receive a charge of up to 160 km in five minutes by 2024.

For those that are yet to join the EV revolution, charging and range anxiety are common entry barriers. But with StoreDot’s battery technology ambitions, such anxieties could soon be part of the past.

“Charging and range anxiety are common concerns holding owners of combustible engine cars back from making the switch to EVs. StoreDot’s advanced battery technology potentially provides actual solutions to these obstacles”, says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.

Together, Polestar and StoreDot will engage in proof-of-concept testing, exploring the possibility of applying the battery technology to Polestar cars. One of the first test-cases include customising StoreDot’s battery cell technology for Polestar cars, enabling fast charging and improved circularity.

“If our current pilot projects with StoreDot are successful, we could see these solutions being implemented in Polestar cars by 2026”, reveals Thomas Ingenlath.

Adding pace to the EV revolution requires us to acknowledge the hurdles to greater adoption and work together to overcome them. Because there are no shortcuts on the road towards broader electric mobility. The speediest route goes straight through collaborationville and innovationtown.

Our next stop: StoreDot.
