Driving down memory lane: 2023 in the rearview mirror

Another year has come and gone, and the Polestar universe is bigger and brighter than ever. Before we charge ahead into 2024, we want to stop and take a (rearview mirror) look at the past year. Join us for a trip down memory lane.

Our journey kicks off in the below zeros – near Artic Circle territory – in a wintry town called Rovaniemi (also known as Santa’s hometown). It was here in Finland, that we raised our first-ever Snow space, made entirely from snow and ice. Built to the exacting standards of our signature Scandi minimalism design language, the Snow space was clean, circular, and part of our colour palette. It also gave a more literal meaning to our temporary Spaces.

In the months of spring that followed, we had our hands full with launching products and celebrating innovation, collaboration, and cross-sectional electrification. First up was the Polestar 2 BST edition 230, a limited-edition Polestar 2 with a power upgrade and improved handling. After that, visitors to the Shanghai auto show got a first glance at Polestar 4, our electric SUV coupé, immersed in a sea of tens of thousands of red tulips.

And speaking of seas… The month of May saw the unveiling of the Candela C-8 Polestar edition, a luxury performance electric boat powered by the same batteries as the Standard range Single motor Polestar 2.

Then came summer. For many, it’s the season of swimming, barbecuing, and concerts. For us, it’s the season of celebration and festivals. That is, celebrating car culture at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We caught some of the festivalgoers on film talking about speed, sustainability, and the future of electric mobility. Watch the video here.

As always, summer was gone too soon and had been replaced by autumn. Some of the fall highlights included a customer event in Gothenburg, digital detoxing in the Swedish forest, and the release of our favourite mountain bike

In September, the Polestar Synergy was revealed at the IAA Mobility in Munich, to our and the joint Polestar Design Contest winner’s delight. This super fantasy car was later shown at the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in Los Angeles.

Still in sunny California, Polestar Day invited visitors and our online audiences to a day filled with tech, innovation, and future gazing, with a keynote from Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, our full future model line-up on display, and demonstrations from our tech partners.

As we’re catching up to present day on our trip down memory lane, we’ve reached the final stretch. The final months of the year were as action-packed as the previous with the global climate conference COP28 in Dubai, fashion shoots, and sustainable skateboard manufacturing. All of which you can read more about in the hyperlinks.

We also arranged an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience with Polestar 3 at the Hällered Proving Grounds for the world’s leading automotive press. The experience included ride-alongs, test track driving, and deep dives with our design team. Our electric performance SUV pushed the limits on and off-road, demonstrating its capabilities and showcasing development thus far.

And so, we’re back where we started this journey – at present day, looking forward towards another trip around the Polestar universe. Keep up with the highlights of 2024 by signing up to our newsletter here

Full speed ahead into 2024, the future, and beyond.
