If you're planning a road trip or hitting the Irish roads anytime soon, we have curated a list of Ireland's most scenic electric vehicle charging locations, ensuring you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Using Instagram hashtag data and expert input, we identified the top spots for checking out some stunning views while you charge your electric vehicle.
Topping the list is the charging point at Slea Head Drive in Dingle, offering a mesmerising view of Dingle Harbour and the surrounding mountains. This picturesque location allows eco-conscious road-trippers to soak in the beauty of one of Ireland's top tourist destinations.
Securing the second spot is the charging point at Marine Boardwalk located in Greystones in County Wicklow, providing a captivating view of the Greystones landscape. With the beach just a stone's throw away, this location offers not only a charging break but also an opportunity to indulge in delicious food - or take a leisurely stroll along the pier.
Taking third place is 88 Strand Road in Bray, also in County Wicklow, where you can enjoy a stunning view of Bray Beach. Whether you're embarking on a day trip or seeking a relaxing coastal experience, Bray offers an ideal destination for electric vehicle adventurers.
In fourth place is a truly jaw-dropping sea view courtesy of the charging point at the north end of the beach in Kilkee, County Clare. This a great location to immerse yourself in the captivating scenery and take a refreshing walk on the beach during your charging session.
Rounding off the top five is the charging point on South Strand Street along Skerries Beach in Dublin, boasting incredible views of the Irish Sea. Skerries is a perfect family-friendly location, offering an array of amenities, restaurants, and fun activities to enjoy while your car charges.

To compile this list, we analysed the specific coordinates and locations of charging points across Ireland and cross-referenced them with the number of Instagram hashtags each spot received. A team of social experts then personally reviewed each location to ensure the view lived up to its reputation.
With Ireland's growing charging infrastructure, travellers can now embrace breathtaking views while recharging their electric Polestar 2, accompanied by the convenience of Google Maps for stress-free navigation.
The Logic:
Kieran Campbell, Head of Sales and Business Operations at Polestar Ireland, expressed excitement about families embarking on scenic staycations during the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
“Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, families will be taking to the roads to enjoy scenic staycation across the country. The journey, of course, forms part of the enjoyment, especially in an electric Polestar 2 with silent running and Google Maps to take the stress away from the directions.”

In addition to the top 10 list, we also highlighted several honourable mentions worth a visit. Although these locations didn't make the top list, they still offer remarkable views and worthwhile experiences.

Polestar’s list of the top 10 most scenic electric vehicle charging locations:
1. Co. Kerry: Dingle, Slea Head Drive
Slea Head Drive in Dingle topped the list, with a stunning view of the Dingle harbour, the charging point located at Dingle also has a breathtaking view of the mountains that surround Dingle, which eco-friendly road-trippers can take in.
Dingle is one of Ireland’s top tourist locations and with views like this, it’s no surprise. A perfect place to make a pitstop on your way to one of Dingle’s many attractions.
2. Co. Wicklow: Greystones, Marine Boardwalk
Meanwhile, the gorgeous charging point located at Greystones Marine Boardwalk with a stunning view of the Greystones landscape placed second.
With the stunning coastline and beach just a stone’s throw away, whether you’re there to charge your car, get some food, or simply walk up the pier, this location really has it all.
3. Co. Wicklow, 88 Strand Road, Bray
Another Wicklow location placed third in the form of 88 Strand Road with a stunning view of Bray Beach it’s easy to see why.
Meaning - if you’re taking a day trip with your electric vehicle this weekend, it seems like Bray is the place to be!
4. Co. Clare, Kilkee, North End
Kilkee in Clare with a jaw-dropping sea view landed in fourth place on Polestar’s list.
The location boasts plenty of places to sit and admire the views both in and out of a car and if you’re feeling like you need some fresh air amid your drive you can even take a scenic stroll through the beach too.
5. Co. Dublin, Skerries, South Strand Street
The charging point on South Strand Street along Skerries Beach in Dublin closed off the top five list with its stunning views of the Irish Sea.
Skerries is also known for being a perfect family day out with plenty of amenities, restaurants, and fun family activities so if your car needs a charge and you do too - it’s a great place to take a break and enjoy some family fun.

6. Co. Louth, Carlingford, 3 Old Quay Lane
This hidden gem in Carlingford, Co. Louth, on Old Quay Lane has a perfect view of the sea. Stop, charge your car, sit down, and admire the view.
The drive to Carlingford has some stunning views and this charging point doesn’t disappoint.
7. Co. Mayo, Achill Island, Keelwest, Dooagh
The charging point located on Achill Island, County Mayo is a perfect stop along the Wild Atlantic Way. From this location, you can take in the beautiful view of the rugged western landscape. Achill is truly the jewel in the crown of the Wild Atlantic Way and this charging point is located just minutes from beautiful secluded beaches, the highest sea cliffs in Ireland, and the iconic Keem Bay.
8. Co. Waterford, Tramore, Promenade
Tramore’s Promenade in Co Waterford has one of the best quaint views on the list, making it an easy choice for number eight.
9. Co. Wexford, Courtown Harbour
Courtown in Wexford is a much-loved family holiday destination with so much to do and see.
Whether you’re stopping for a quick charging break, to admire the view, or to take in a traditional chipper along the Courtown beach with the family, you definitely will find more ways than one to unwind and recharge here.
10. Co. Waterford, Dungarvan, Davits Quay
This beautiful view from Davits Quay in Dungarvan in Waterford is the perfect spot to close out the top ten list.
Watch the boats go past while charging your car or take a short walk into Dungarvan town for some light shopping while you wait - either way, it’s a lovely view.
Honourable mentions
These five locations are also worth a visit. They didn’t make the top 10 as you might have to walk a few metres from the charging station to get the best view, but these are also well worth the trip.

Bath Place in Blackrock, Dublin, has quite the view if you’re looking for somewhere to charge your car and get out and stretch your legs.
The Google Maps image doesn’t quite do justice to just how nice this view is so you’re just going to have to take a trip of your own and see it for yourself.
12. Co. Cork, Castletownbere, The Pier
Located in Casteltownbere, Cork, The Pier just off Bank Place has a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding mountains, you may need to see it to believe it.
13. Co. Dublin, Malahide, 2 James's Terrace
St James’s Terrace in Dublin’s own Malahide is the perfect car-charging location to watch the boats go past and take in some beautiful sights in the meantime.
14. Co. Donegal, Killybegs, Lower Main Street
Donegal is a favourite location for both tourists and Irish folk alike for a reason, it has some truly stunning views and this one on Killybegs located along the lower main street is no exception.

Closing off the ‘worth a visit’ list is Sligo City’s Riverside and with this calming river-side view it’s definitely worth a visit.
