Monterey Car Week: A week of milestones

Monterey Car Week is a yearly pilgrimage for automotive enthusiasts, a place where history meets innovation. The excitement, the thrill of being surrounded by some of the most exquisite automobiles in the world, and the palpable buzz around our very own Polestar 3 and Concept BST – it was all there.

To truly appreciate the significance of Pebble Beach, it’s essential to understand the history and allure. Located on California’s central coast, Pebble Beach is more than just a stunning seaside resort – it’s hallowed ground in the automotive world. The area’s ties to cars date back to the 1950s when the first Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was held in 1950 as a small social event alongside a road race through the pine and cypress forests.

The Concours d’Elegance has since evolved into the most prestigious event of its kind, attracting the world’s rarest and most beautiful automobiles. This isn’t just a car show; it’s a competition where the most immaculately restored and preserved vehicles are judged not only on their looks but also on their historical accuracy. Winning a class – or even better, the coveted Best of Show – at Pebble Beach is akin to winning an Oscar in the automotive world.

Thrills at Pebble Beach: Polestar 3 test drives

Fast forward to Thursday, and the energy at Pebble Beach was palpable. If you’ve ever been to Monterey Car Week, you know that it’s as much about the experience as it is about the cars. Polestar 3 test drives were in full swing, offering participants a scenic route around the Pebble Beach area and along the stunning coastline.

Friday brought more of the same, but with an added twist. While the test drives continued, the spotlight shifted slightly to the U.S. debut of Concept BST. In a small, intimate gathering in our Space in Marin, California, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath unveiled the car to a select group of media and customers and spoke about the BST addition to our line-up and what it means for our company.

“It’s perhaps a surprisingly loud design for Polestar, but with Concept BST I wanted to give a clear statement that performance is part of our Brand and Design DNA,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.

The unveiling: Polestar Concept BST takes the stage

Saturday marked the final day of our test drives at Pebble Beach, and it was nothing short of exhilarating. Hundreds of visitors had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Polestar 3 throughout the week, with many more lined up for the coming days and weeks at our growing number of Polestar Spaces. An unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Then came Sunday, and with it, the crowning moment of the week: Polestar Concept BST gracing the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. If there was ever a place for a car like Concept BST to shine, this was it. The Concept Lawn is where the most innovative and beautiful cars of the future are displayed, and Concept BST fit right in.

The Concept Lawn is a relatively new addition to the Concours d’Elegance, but it has quickly become one of the event’s highlights. Located on the pristine greens of the Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Concept Lawn is where the future meets the past. It’s where automakers showcase their most daring and innovative concepts – vehicles that push the boundaries of design and technology and offer a glimpse into what the automotive landscape might look like in the years to come.

Concept BST’s bold design and futuristic aesthetics turned heads and sparked conversations. Watching visitors stop in their tracks, pull out their phones, and snap photos – it was a moment of pride for the entire Polestar team.

Monterey Car Week: A journey of innovation

Looking back on the week, it’s clear this was more than just a series of events — it was a week of firsts. From the production line in South Carolina to the test drives at Pebble Beach, and finally to the unveiling of the Concept BST, every moment was a step forward for Polestar.

With production now in full swing, and with the positive reception we’ve received at Pebble Beach, we’re more excited than ever about what’s to come for Polestar 3.

And then there’s Concept BST. Unveiling it in the U.S. felt like a full-circle moment – a chance to show the world what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. Concept BST is a glimpse into the future of Polestar, a future where performance and design go hand in hand.

Until next time, Pebble Beach.
