Adaptive cruise control

Adaptive cruise control

The adaptive cruise control (ACC) can help the driver to maintain a constant speed, combined with a preset time interval to the vehicle ahead.

Display view for adaptive cruise control

The following illustrative example shows how adaptive cruise control (ACC) can be shown in the displays in various contexts.

Selecting and activating adaptive cruise control

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) must first be selected and then activated to enable it to control speed and distance.

Deactivating adaptive cruise control

The adaptive cruise control (ACC) can be deactivated and switched off.

Switching between cruise control and adaptive cruise control in the centre display

When the normal cruise control (CC) is selected in the driver display, it is possible to change to adaptive cruise control (ACC) in the centre display's function view.

Controls for adaptive cruise control

A summary of how adaptive cruise control (ACC) is adjusted using the left-hand keypad on the steering wheel.

Symbols and messages for adaptive cruise control

A number of symbols and messages regarding the adaptive cruise control (ACC) can be shown via the driver display and/or the head-up display.

Limitations for adaptive cruise control

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) may have limitations in certain situations.

Standby mode for adaptive cruise control

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) can be deactivated and set to standby mode. This can take place due to driver intervention or automatically.

Automatic braking with driver support

The driver support systems adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist have a special brake function in slow traffic and while stationary. In certain situations, the parking brake is applied in order to keep the car stationary.

Set the stored speed for driver support

It is possible to set a stored speed for the speed limiter, cruise control, adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist functions.

Change of target with driver support

The driver supports of adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist, in combination with automatic transmission, have a change of target function at certain speeds.

Set time interval to vehicle ahead

It is possible to set the time interval to the vehicle ahead to be maintained by the adaptive cruise control, Pilot Assist and Distance Warning functions.

Warning from driver support in the event of a collision risk

The driver support systems of adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist can warn the driver if the distance to the vehicle ahead suddenly becomes too short.
