The combustion engine in the Polestar 1 is a high-performance petrol in-line four-cylinder engine. At low engine speeds, a supercharger compresses and forces air into the cylinders. This minimises turbo lag until the engine reaches 3,500 rpm, when the turbocharger takes over.

Many cars promise torque vectoring, but few genuinely deliver. No brakes. No mechanical limited slip differential. Polestar 1’s twin electric motors on the rear axle adapt the power to each rear wheel. Get agile, reactive steering, and excellent grip and stability around corners.

  • * In Europe all electric vehicles are measured against a standardized metric for range. The Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) measures the range of a car travelling at an average speed of 30mph in summer temperatures from a 100% to 0% state of charge. The actual range achieved under real conditions varies depending on driving behaviour and other external factors. The certified WLTP range is therefore normally not achievable in real life. Please learn more about WLTP here.
