Preconditioning
Preconditioning is a climate function that, if possible, attempts to achieve a comfortable temperature in the passenger compartment before driving.
Preconditioning can be started immediately or scheduled for a later time by setting a timer using the center display or a cellular phone.
The function utilizes several of the vehicle's systems:
- In cold weather, the electric heating system heats the passenger compartment to a comfortable temperature.
- In warm weather, air conditioning cools the passenger compartment to a comfortable temperature.
- Heated driver and passenger seats* are activated automatically at an ambient temperature of 10°C(50°F) or lower. Seat heating is activated at level 1, regardless of the previous setting.
- Heating for the rear window and door mirrors is automatically activated as needed.
During preconditioning in a hot climate, condensation from the air conditions may drip under the vehicle. This is normal.
Battery heating
Battery heating is activated automatically if the preconditioning timer is activated and the charging cable is connected.
Battery heating is activated if the internal temperature in the battery is low. If the vehicle is used regularly, battery heating might not be necessary, even in low ambient temperatures.
Note
Preconditioning is available when the high-voltage battery is sufficiently charged, but if preconditioning is running when the vehicle is not connected to an electrical socket, the vehicle's range will be affected.
Note
During preconditioning of the passenger compartment, the vehicle works to reach a comfortable temperature and not the temperature set in the climate system.
