Adjusting suspension settings*

The shock absorber settings can be adjusted for driving in other conditions or on particular road surfaces.

Location of adjustment knobs

There are four adjustment knobs, two for the front shock absorbers and two for the rear. There are adjustment knobs at each wheel. All shock absorbers are adjustable for total suspension level.

For the front wheels, the adjustment knobs are located at the bottom of the shock absorber, near the wheel. The adjustment knobs for the rear wheels are located above each wheel in the wheel housing.

The front shock absorbers are also equipped with separate compression adjustment1. The adjustment knobs for this are located on the gas containers in the front cargo compartment.

To access the adjustment knobs in the front, simply turn the wheel until the shock absorber is visible. To access the adjustment knobs in the rear, the inner lining of the wheel housing must be removed and the vehicle lifted using a jack or similar; see separate section.

 Note

The closer to position 0 the adjustment knob is set, the stiffer the suspension.

Adjusting front suspension settings

Turn the adjustment knob clockwise or counterclockwise to change the adjustment position.
To select adjustment position 0, turn the adjustment knob clockwise, viewed from below, until it stops.

 Important

Do not over-tighten the adjustment knob – the shock absorbers can be damaged by excessive tightening torque.
Turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise to the desired adjustment position. You should feel and hear a click each time the adjustment position is changed.
Then follow the same procedure for the second shock absorber.

Adjusting front compression damping1

Open the front storage compartment to access the compression damping.
To select adjustment position 0, turn the adjustment knob clockwise, viewed from below, until it stops.
Turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise to the desired adjustment position. You should feel and hear a click each time the adjustment position is changed.
Then follow the same procedure for the second shock absorber.

Adjusting rear suspension settings

Lift the vehicle to provide access to the wheel housing.

Unscrew two of the nuts to provide access under the inner liner. Do not remove the inner liner completely.

The nuts that need to be removed are located on either side of the shock absorber.

Reach with your hand under the inner liner and remove the protective rubber cap covering the adjustment knob.

The rubber cap is located above the adjustment knob.
To select adjustment position 0, turn the adjustment knob clockwise, as viewed from above, until it stops. Use this as a starting point to find the desired adjustment position.

 Important

Turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise to the desired adjustment position. You should feel and hear a click each time the adjustment position is changed.

Turn the adjustment knob clockwise or counterclockwise to change the adjustment position.
When the desired position has been reached, replace the protective rubber cap. Then follow the same procedure for the second shock absorber.

 Note

For optimal performance, Polestar recommends that the adjustment knobs are set at the same position for each axle.
