High-pressure washing

The car should be washed as soon as it becomes dirty. The longer the car is left dirty, the more difficult it will be to get it completely clean and there is a risk of scratching the paintwork. Wash the car in a car wash with oil separator. Use car shampoo.

 Note

Polestar has recommendations with respect to cleaning agents and car care products suitable for the different parts of the car. Contact Polestar Customer Support for more information on which products are suitable to use.

 Important

To maintain the matte surface of the emblem, see the separate section.

When using high-pressure washing, use sweeping movements and make sure that the nozzle does not come closer than 30 cm(13 in.) to the surface of the car. Do not spray directly onto the locks or within the charging hatch.

Advice for high-pressure washing of cars with a foil finish1

  • Use a nozzle that directs the jet at minimum of a 40° angle.
  • Make sure the nozzle has a nozzle guard (tip guard).
  • Use a pressure of no more than 1200 psi(80 bar).
  • Do not use water hotter than 60 °C(140 °F).
  • Make sure that there is at least 30 cm(13 in.) between the nozzle and the surface of the car, if the angle to the surface is 90° +/-10°. if the angle to the surface is 30° or greater, there must be at least 100 cm(39 in.) between the nozzle and the surface.
  • Take extra care when pressure washing near the edges of the foil finish, and always use an angle greater than 60° in these areas.
  1. 1 Applies to Polestar Engineered BST edition 270 and Polestar Engineered BST edition 230 that may include foil parts, depending on choice of version.
